This morning, the words of Galatians 6:14 have challenged me:"May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world."
In Paul's writings it seems as though he is very intimately and very personally connected to Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection. Even though he hadn't experience either in the tangible way that Jesus' 12 disciples did - he writes as though he had. This gives me hope that even though I was not there for these history-making events - they can be both real and alive to me today.
As I read these words of Paul's, I asked myself, "Has the world been crucified to me... and I to the world?"
Over the years I can say that I have become dead to certain desires for what the world has to offer, but other desires are alive and well.
May the crucifixion of Christ be intimate and personal to me... and may I continue to "die" to those things that may seem compelling, but are really sent to steal, kill and destroy.
